Our group is led by our Board of Directors.

The current GSCHE board members are:

Joy and Buddy Ellis, President

My husband and I have been homeschooling our children for 8 years.  I must say, it has been the best decision we've made for our children. We have gotten to do so much with them since we have been homeschooling.  I feel in a lot of ways that we are much closer as a family.  My husband and I, along with several other families,  formed GSCHE.  It is a second family to us.  The support we have with each other is wonderful!  I wouldn't change anything!

Crystal and Chris Akers, Vice-President

We've home educated our 4 children "from the beginning".  It is our desire to both create a place in the homeschool community for anyone interested in educating their kids at home and support parent choices in education.  We both believe that our choice to homeschool fits our family best!  GSCHE has helped make homeschooling even better with support for parents and activities for kids.

Beth Cox, Treasurer

My husband Ronald and I have always homeschooled our two son ages 10 and 8.  It was something we knew was best for them and it has been good.  We have enjoyed it and have learned together.  Being a member of GSCHE has enhanced our experience by giving us a chance to do some things that we might not have experienced otherwise.  Since we homeschool, we can concentrate on our children's individual interest and needs.  First and foremost, as we homeschool, we want to teach our children how to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth and incorporate this in everything that we do.

Galadriel LaVere, Secretary

Josh and Galadriel LaVere are the parents of 3 home educated children.  They have been able to exercise their choices for education year by year as circumstances changed.  Currently, The LaVeres are leaders within their church and operate a business.  They bring a fresh perspective and leadership experience to the board.

Amy Eilers, Member-at-large

My husband, Jason, and I decided to homeschool our two boys, ages 10 and 5, when our oldest was in first grade.  He spent two years in public school and the only reason we didn’t start homeschooling sooner was because we weren’t sure if there were other kids in the area for him to socialize with.  Since we made our decision and joined GSCHE we found that there are a number of children in Jackson County who are homeschooled.  The support that we have received from GSCHE has made our transition to homeschooling a smooth one.  We have made many friends and the relationships we have developed have not only been good for the children, but they have been good for us as parents.  We are busier now than we have ever been, but we are enjoying every minute of our time together.
