Jackson County Public Library Fontana Regional Library's Sylva branch is located in downtown Sylva. There are story times for kids up to age 5 all year and summer programs for kids of several age groups. Check out the homeschool board near the water fountain!

Blue Ridge Parkway The Parkway follows the Appalachian Mountain chain and provides seemingly endless views of many parallel ranges connected by cross ranges and scattered hills. From Shenandoah National Park, the Parkway follows the Blue Ridge Mountains, eastern rampart of the Appalachians, for 355 miles. Then, for the remaining 114 miles, it skirts the southern end of the massive Black Mountains, weaves through the Craggies, the Pisgahs, and the Balsams, and ends in the Great Smokies.
Pack Place Pack Place is a center of education and art in Ashville NC. It is the home of the Health Adventure, a children's museum, as well as The Colburn Earth Science Museum.
Great Smokies National Park Jr Ranger and other educational programs, especially in the summer and fall. Trails and walkaways, camping, hands-on history, just a little ways from Jackson County, nestled west of Cherokee, across the NC-TN border.
